Insurance for Dental Practices

Practice Plus Surgery Policy

The standard package provides cover for 'All Risks' on Surgery Contents, Business Interruption, Employer's Liability, Public/Products Liability, Glass, Money and Assault.

Surgery Contents

The contents of your surgery are covered against accidental loss or damage, together with the following:

  • Precious Metals and Drugs.
  • Contents temporarily removed (up to 20% of sum insured).
  • Your own, employees’ and patients’ personal effects (up to £750).
  • External signs and nameplates (unlimited).
  • Crowns, Dental Materials and Documents in transit (up to £2500).
  • Portable Office & Dental Equipment away from the premises (up to 20% of sum insured on Contents, maximum £10,000).
  • Replacement of locks following loss of keys (up to £1000).
  • Damage following explosion of Pressure Vessels.

Business Interruption

Covers loss of income due to any of the following:

  • Damage (as defined) at the Surgery. Up to £500,000 standard Sum Insured for a 12 month Indemnity Period with options to increase.
  • Damage to the Buildings (if not insured on this policy).
  • Denial of Access, including when caused by acts of the Emergency Services.
  • Failure of Water, Gas, Electricity or Telecommunications supply.
  • Closure of the premises due to defective sanitation or notifiable disease.
  • Loss or destruction of outstanding Patients' accounts (up to £2500).

Other

  • Money Cover, including to and from Bank (£3000 limit with £1500 in Safe).
  • Wide Personal Assault Cover included for all employees (not restricted to 'hold-ups'). Up to £10,000 for Death & Capital Benefits, £100 per week for Temporary Total Disablement . Employer's Liability, in the event of an employee suffering bodily injury at work (up to £10 million).
  • Public/Products Liability (limit £2m.), covering your Dental Practice's legal liability to the general public for accidental injury or damage other than due to Malpractice or Professional Negligence.
  • Glass cover for plain glass breakage, to include sanitary fittings, mirrors, framework and boarding up costs (unlimited).

Optional Extensions

The Practice Plus Surgery Policy can be extended to cover a wide range of options to suit the specific requirements of your Dental Practice.

  • Legal Expenses, with cover and assistance provided by DAS including:
    • Employment Disputes.
    • Legal Defence including Data Protection.
    • Contract Disputes, up to £5000.
    • Property Disputes.
    • Tax Protection.

Insurance Enhancements to cover a range of specific requirements:

  • Buildings, including Subsidence.
  • Employee Dishonesty.
  • Computer Breakdown & Reinstatement of Data.
  • Personal Accident.
  • Full Terrorism cover.
